2024 Taipei Film Festival Top Talents promotional videos premiere exclusively on TaiwanPlus Involving in production development, nine Top Talents actors demonstrate their unique charm

This year, the 26th Taipei Film Festival collaborates with Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA) again on Top Talents. The nine actors selected for this edition include WANG Po-chieh, Moon LEE, Vivian SUNG, Patty LEE, Austin LIN, Alice KO, YAO Chun-yao, FU Meng-po and HSIEH Ying-xuan. Today (June 18), the nine actors’ promotional videos premiere exclusively on TaiwanPlus Arts and Culture, a new YouTube channel of TaiwanPlus, the first Taiwanese public funded English media platform. Today, Top Talents releases the second batch of the actors’ professional portraits and the promotional videos shot in English. This year, Bird of Paradise Film is once again commissioned to make the videos, which took three months to complete. Since February, director Kassey C.M. HUANG had been meeting with the actors to work on the content together. In this edition, the acting coach Alice HUANG was invited to participate in the project to help the actors express their passion and desire for acting.
From Winds of September to Eye of the Storm, WANG Po-chieh, who launched his career eighteen years ago, has transformed himself from a rising star to an award-winning actor; in the video, he shows the charisma of a mature man as well as the wild explosiveness of an actor. Moon LEE turns the introduction of herself into a poem; collaborating with the choreographer Ting Lu, Lee creates a unique new style in the two dances in the video. Vivian SUNG took up the challenge of improvising on the set; accompanied by different pieces of music, we see not only how Sung changes her body language and emotions but how she liberates herself and sets no boundaries for the roles she plays as an actor.
Showing a different side to her usual sweet tender persona, Patty LEE talks fluently in English about her journey in acting; moreover, she points out that the best thing about being an actor is getting the feedback from the audiences. The 2024 Taipei Film Festival Ambassador Austin LIN wrote the script himself; through his interpretation of three very different characters, Lin hopes this video will broaden people’s imagination of him and allow him to look back at himself from the audiences’ point of view. Echoing her painting on the set, Alice KO talks about the process of learning to act and how she later began to enjoy it and heal herself by playing the characters.
For every perfect performance, YAO Chun-yao keeps rehearsing until the character’s soul is gradually absorbed into his blood; the brilliant acting skills Yao demonstrated stunned everyone on the set. In the video, FU Meng-po performs a funny conversation about acting between three different versions of himself, including the sentimental self, the rational self and the free-spirited self. HSIEH Ying-xuan discloses her truest self, showing that when the camera stops rolling, she is an ordinary person who wears slippers and wolfs down her lunch just like everyone.
Since each episode is shot entirely in English, Taipei Film Festival has collaborated for the first time this year with TaiwanPlus, Taiwan's first international English-language media platform, to premiere the series globally, highlighting actors' determination and vision to perform on the world stage.
