Austin LIN
Austin Lin’s association with Taipei Film Festival can be traced back to fifteen years ago when his debut feature, Somewhere I Have Never Travelled 2009, was nominated at the Taipei Film Awards. As Lin looked back, he got very emotional and said, “Taipei Film Festival means a lot to me because the first time I was referred to as an ‘actor’ in my life was at Taipei Film Festival.” Furthermore, it was Taipei Film Festival that initiated Lin’s involvement in the film festival circuit. In 2024, Fu Tien-yu, the director of Somewhere I Have Never Travelled, made the Taipei Film Festival trailer with Lin, in which they demonstrated all the glories and the great rapport they had developed in the past fifteen years.
Lin first appeared in a singing competition and later ventured into acting when he was cast as the male lead by director Fu Tien-yu. Lin won Best Supporting Actor for At Café 6 at the 2016 Golden Horse Awards. In recent years, he took part in drama series, including Tears on Fire and Mom, Don't Do That and films such as I Weirdo. In 2023, Lin was nominated Best Actor for Marry My Dead Body at the Taipei Film Awards, proving himself to be one of the most popular actors in Taiwan. -

Gingle WANG
The film, Detention, in which Gingle Wang played the lead, grossed more than three million US dollars at the box-office in Taiwan in 2019, and in the following year, the film won Wang Best Actress at the Taipei Film Awards. Subsequently, Wang showed different looks in several films, including The Falls, Till We Meet Again, and Marry My Dead Body. As Wang appears in one production after another, she is undoubtedly the most sought-after young actress in Taiwan.
From an audience, a nominee to a winner, Wang returned as the 25th Taipei Film Festival ambassador and coincidently, she just turned 25. She joked, “It’s incredible. Is it because I turned 25 that I’m invited to be the ambassador? It’s a great honor.” Wang recounted that director John Hsu once said 25 was the most beautiful age since one was semi-mature at this stage, meaning one had certain understanding of who they were and what they were doing, and they were less fearful of the future. Wang described Taipei Film Festival as an annual family gathering and every time she attended it, she felt how lively and friendly the festival was. -

Kuan-Ting LIU
From Zheng Hua-ming in Back to the Good Times, Radish in A Sun, Wu Kui-tai in My Missing Valentine, Lee Hung-chang in Classmates Minus to Yang in Treat or Trick, Liu Kuan-ting has proven himself to be a chameleon actor. Liu’s association with Taipei Film Festival began in 2018 when the short film, 2923, and the feature, Xiao Mei, he starred in were nominated at the Taipei Film Awards. Liu said, “When a film is made, it needs to find an audience. If my participation could draw more people to the film festival, I’ll be very happy.”
Feeling “time” flowing at the nearly century-old Taipei Zhongshan Hall, Taipei Film Festival’s main venue, Liu showed how elegant and cool he was as the festival’s ambassador. Liu thought that as an actor, he spent the most time on “breaking the conventions.” In his opinion, how to observe others as well as himself through drama and to find the different possibilities in what he was familiar with was a lesson that he would forever keep learning. -

ROY CHIU
"Roy Chiu’s association with Taipei Film Festival began in 2018 when Dear Ex, in which he played the lead, held its Asian premiere at the festival, and the film won him Best Actor at the Taipei Film Awards. Chiu remembered watching the film with the audience and feeling every reaction from them, no matter how subtle it was; whether it was the laughter, the breathing or the sobbing at the end of the film, it left a deep impression on him, and that brought him closer to Taipei Film Festival.
Therefore, when Chiu was invited to be the festival’s ambassador, he accepted it without hesitation, feeling honored that he could do something for the film industry. It was the first time Chiu served as the Taipei Film Festival ambassador since he launched his career in acting twenty years ago. He hoped that his influence would attract more people who wanted to make films to join the industry, and he really looked forward to watching all the outstanding films with the audience at the 23rd Taipei Film Festival. Annie CHEN
At the press conference, Annie Chen expressed that she had been involved in Taipei Film Festival for a long time. In 2013, she turned from an audience member into the ceremony presenter and in 2020, she became the festival’s ambassador. She was very grateful to Taipei Film Festival for letting her take up the jobs she had never done before. In 2019, Chen participated in many talks and post-screening Q&As and found that many fans messaged her, telling her they saw her in the theater and sharing their thoughts on the films with her. Chen felt interaction like this was new and interesting as if they were in a study group.
Although the pandemic restricted people’s movement at the time, it could not restrict Chen’s passion for cinema. She hoped that we could return to the cinemas to see films soon and Taipei Film Festival would be held as planned, allowing the cineastes the chance to watch films in the theater and enjoy sharing their thoughts with the filmmakers. -
