Organized by Bureau of Audiovisual and Music Industry Development (BAMID) and executed by Taipei Film Festival, the second edition of New Director Workshop was held in 2025. It included four core courses, covering the key knowledge and techniques of film production and helping the new directors and their crews to reduce risks and improve production quality.
The second edition of New Director Workshop included four courses. Amongst them, the “one-on-one consultation course” invited some Taiwanese professionals to share their precious experiences, offering the participants professional guidance on their creation. In “project consultation course,” several established filmmakers advised the participants on scriptwriting, finding audiences, positioning productions, and financial planning.
In the “industry professional course,” the knowledge of the key areas, including risk management, casting, acting, communication, and international film festival and sales was taught. Moreover, several experts were invited to give talks on the current situation in the Asian film industries, script development, film project planning and pitching, and intimacy coaching. Part of the course was open to all professionals in the film industry.
Those who are eligible for New Director Workshop are directors who have made less than two short films or features. In addition, each team must consist of one director, one producer, and one scriptwriter, and the producer must have produced at least one short film or one feature. We welcome all passionate ambitious filmmakers to take part in the workshop. Together, we will instill new energy onto the big screen!
