In collaboration of TAICCA again, Taipei Film Festival unveils the nine brilliant actors selected for 2024 “Top Talents”

Hand-painted character banners by Taipei Film Festival Outstanding Contribution Award winner Yan Jhen-fa will be exhibited at Zhongshan Hall Square from June 14
Since the 2023 Top Talents, a collaboration between Taipei Film Festival and Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA), received enormously encouraging and positive feedback, the two organizations work together again this year on promoting brilliant actors on the international stage. On June 11, nine actors selected for this year’s Top Talents are unveiled together with a 30-second promotional video. The nine actors include WANG Po-chieh, Moon LEE, Vivian SUNG, Patty LEE, Austin LIN, Alice KO, YAO Chun-yao, FU Meng-po and HSIEH Ying-xuan. Moreover, the 2024 Taipei Film Festival Outstanding Award winner YAN Jhen-fa, a hand-painted movie poster master, has painted the banners of the characters these actors are best known for, and the character banners will be exhibited outside Taipei Zhongshan Hall from June 14 onwards, serving as the first promotional event of the 2024 Taipei Film Festival. Taipei Film Festival launched the first edition of Top Talents last year. In addition to making the promotional videos in English and establishing the talent database on the website, Taipei Film Festival worked with TAICCA bringing the talents at the ACA & Global OTT Awards in Busan, where they not only attracted so much attention from all the participants but exchanged their experiences with the filmmakers from all over the world. This year for the second edition, the renowned executive producers LIAO Ching-sung, Jeffery CHAN and David TANG, the international film festival consultant Sanling CHANG, directors YANG Ya-che and Mag HSU and the senior talent manager Ivy HUANG served on the selection committee.
The nine selected actors include Wang Po-chieh, who won the 2023 Taipei Film Award Best Actor for Eye of the Storm, the Golden Bell Award-winning actress Moon Lee, who was selected for Taipei Film Festival Super Nova, Vivian Sung, who starred in several international box-office hits such as Our Times, Patty Lee, who is active in film, television, and music, the 2024 Taipei Film Festival Ambassador Austin Lin, the two-time Golden Bell Award Best Actress winner Alice Ko, the Golden Bell Award regular Yao Chun-yao, Fu Meng-po, who won the 2023 Taipei Film Award Best Supporting Actor for Day Off and Hsieh Ying-xuan, who won Best Actress at the Taipei Film Awards as well as the Golden Horse Film Awards.
The biggest attraction for the cineastes is the dream collaboration between the Top Talents and the celebrated film poster painter Yan Jhen-fa. This year, Taipei Film Festival invites Yan to paint the banners of the characters the nine Top Talents actors are best known for. The giant Top Talents character banners will be exhibited at the Taipei Zhongshan Hall entrance from June 14 onwards, serving as the first promotional event of the 26th Taipei Film Festival. Everyone is welcome to take photos with the banners and post them online as they experience the power of the traditional hand-painted billboards and the spirit of a professional movie poster painter.
This year, the photographer Mr. Triangle returns to take the professional portraits of the actors; through different colors and the balance between light and shadow, the unique charm of each actor is vividly conveyed. The tailor-made promotional videos in English of each actor are produced by Bird of Paradise Film.
It is the first time Top Talents partners with TaiwanPlus, the first Taiwanese publicly funded English media platform. These videos will be premiered exclusively on TaiwanPlus Arts & Culture YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/@taiwanplusartsculture) on June 18, and we cordially invite everyone to watch the program.
