The 27th Taipei Film Festival is set to open on June 20. Today (June 6), the festival announced the highly anticipated host and presenter lineup for the Taipei Film Awards ceremony. Multitalented performer Esther LIU—renowned for her achievements in singing, acting, and hosting—will serve as the host. Five presenter pairings, each combining popularity and talent, were also unveiled, promising a glamorous and captivating night.
Taking on the role of host for a major awards ceremony for the first time, Esther LIU expressed her excitement: “It’s truly an honor to be the host, and I will give it my all!” Since her debut as a teen, Liu has continuously challenged herself throughout her career. She noted, “Hosting is like acting in a different form,” underscoring her unwavering passion for performing regardless of the role. With the focus of an actor and the charm of a host, she is set to lead audiences through an evening filled with cinematic glory and emotional resonance.
The awards ceremony will take place at 7:00 PM on July 5 at Zhongshan Hall, Taipei. This year, acclaimed Korean actor Jinwoong CHO has been specially invited to Taiwan to co-present the highly anticipated Best Narrative Feature award with this year’s festival ambassador, Vivian SUNG. Additionally, a special screening of CHO’s film A Hard Day will be held on July 3 at Showtime Cinemas Ximen, where the actor will attend in person to share behind-the-scenes stories and creative insights with fans—an unmissable opportunity for movie lovers.
The presenter lineup also features a dazzling array of stars. Last year’s Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress winners, Audrey LIN and Ivy CHEN, will reunite onstage to announce this year’s Best Actress winner, marking a touching moment of generational succession. Bolin CHEN and Sandrine PINNA, both nominated for Best Actor and Best Actress this year for Dead Talents Society, will present the Best Director award, bringing the ceremony to a high point. TSENG Jing-hua, nominated this year for Best Supporting Actor for Family Matters, will join fellow cast member YAO Chun-yao to present Best Styling & Makeup Design and Best Short Film. Yu-Xuan WANG, who previously won Best Supporting Actress for GODDAMNED ASURA, will partner with popular singer-actor SHOU to present Best Art Direction and Best Animated Film—infusing the evening with youthful energy and freshness.
The 2025 Taipei Film Festival will run from June 20 to July 5 at Zhongshan Hall, Vie Show Cinemas Xinyi, and SPOT Huashan. The Taipei Film Awards ceremony on July 5 will be broadcast live on CTS Channel 12 and simulcast on OTT platforms including Chunghwa Telecom MOD, Hami Video, Four Seasons Online, ELTA OTT, LiTV, ofiii, FainTV, and overseas via Dish Network.
